Re-Opening of the Transformed Harriet Tubman Museum
Experience the newly renovated Harriet Tubman Museum & Education Center in Downtown Cambridge during the grand re-opening on June 13. New murals on all the walls and floor help tell the Underground Railroad hero’s story. The murals were created by Dorchester County artist Michael Rosato, the muralist behind the well-known "Take My Hand" mural on the exterior of the museum. Special lighting, audio, and video will be added throughout the summer to deepen the experience. The museum also leads Underground Railroad walks, often accompanied by live banjo.

Harriet Tubman began her journey in Dorchester County – she was born here in 1822, and toiled in slavery until she escaped to freedom in 1849, then returned more than a dozen times to lead family, friends, and strangers to freedom.
In addition to the museum, you can dive deeper into her life by exploring the road trip known as the Harriet Tubman Byway.
