Programming - responsible for recruiting, scheduling and organizing events and activities throughout the county that connect with and explore local themes related to the Water/Ways traveling and local exhibits, including a spectrum of past, present, and future applications. The committee will reach out to current and potential partner organizations to identify and develop programming opportunities to tie in with the traveling exhibit and/or the local exhibit. The committee will collect programming commitments, descriptions and other details to promote and encourage public participation. The committee will keep documentation and promotional materials for each program opportunity.
Local Exhibit - will partner with the Dorchester County Tourism Office, providing advice and assistance for the planning, fabrication and installation of the local, companion exhibit for the Smithsonian’s Water/Ways exhibition. The local exhibit theme, which focuses on Dorchester County’s water story, “Past, Present and Future,” will guide its development as topics such as the environment, culture and economics are explored.
Communications & Marketing - coordinates both internal and external communications related to the Water/Ways project and manages various methods of communications, both print and digital. This includes facilitating internal communications by providing timely updates and reports to all partner organizations and individuals, as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive external strategy to publicize and promote the exhibit to the public.
Finance & Fundraising – provides financial oversight for the Water/Ways project. This includes budgeting, financial reporting and fundraising. Members to this committee are expected to develop and present budget for approval, identify areas for fundraising and seek financial support from funding partners.
Logistics – responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the exhibit set-up, break-down and delivery to the next site. This includes attending a Water/Ways Installation Workshop organized by Maryland Humanities and the Smithsonian, as well as overseeing the installation of the exhibit at the Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA), maintaining the exhibit while it is at DCA, coordinating the de-installation of the exhibit, and delivering it to Crisfield, MD.
Exhibit Host - responsible for hosting at the exhibit when it is open to the public; managing group tours (school groups, senior groups, etc.) and collecting evaluation data for reporting. This committee will make connections with the local schools and encourage their participation in the exhibition and related programming, including introducing teachers to the Teachers Guide and other educational materials offered by Museum on Main Street.
