Ruark Boatworks

A century-old barn was disassembled, translocated and repurposed to house the Ruark Boatworks, part of the Richardson Maritime Museum, at their Cambridge Creek waterfront site. Visitors are welcome to watch and participate as volunteers work on restoring and building traditional wooden vessels. The volunteers work on other boats, as new projects arise, both as educational programs and as contracted work for individuals who have found the Boatworks to be one of the few remaining facilities to authentically build or repair wooden Chesapeake Bay boats.

Boatworks is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am-3pm or by appointment.

Come and join in – even lend a hand! Tour groups welcome by appointment; call 410-221-8844.
