Learn how preservation of our natural resources is accomplished at the world-renowned Blackwater National Wildlife refuge. Tour the Visitor Center and watch an informative movie about the refuge. Next, experience the wildlife drive tour where you may expect to see the American bald eagle. Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge has the largest nesting of the American bald eagle north of the Florida Everglades. Lunch will follow after a scenic drive to Hoopers Island, fishing village in the south of Dorchester County. After lunch, prepare for an awesome experience as you paddle the waterways around the refuge in kayaks and canoes. The trails reveal unmatched beauty and the wonders of the rich wildlife resources to be discovered in Dorchester.
