about us
The winery is set on 14 acres of vineyards in the midst of farmlands near Vienna, Maryland. Listen to music during Happy Hour on a Friday night, bring a picnic and sit outside for their Concerts in the Country Series, walk the nature trail, or join in one of their fun events. Welcoming both novice and experienced wine drinkers, Layton’s Chance serves up a friendly experience. Even dogs are welcome in the picnic area.
The tasting room is open daily, with free vineyard and winery tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm, and on weekdays by appointment.
In 2020, family-owned Layton’s Chance Winery was named the first “certified craft winery” in Maryland – and the Mid-Atlantic. They earned the honor from the way they grow their own grapes, their commitment to quality, and how they take care with every batch.
The Layton family has been farming Lazy Day Farms in Dorchester County for several generations, on what has become 1,800 acres of land. Over the years they have raised cattle and tomatoes; today they grow corn, soybeans, wheat – and grapes.
Layton’s Chance welcomes groups and private parties at the winery.
Layton’s Chance is also part of the Chesapeake Wine Trail.
