Iconic local restaurant High Spot has returned to downtown Cambridge under the banner of Ava’s Hospitality Group (AHG), the group behind popular restaurants including Ava’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar on Poplar Street in Cambridge.
The menu includes appetizers such as buffalo oysters and crab stuffed mushrooms, grilled shrimp salad, burgers, crab cakes, fish tacos, prime rib, meatloaf, shepherd’s pie, and more. There’s a kids menu. Happy hour from 4 to 6pm includes half-price “pub grub” and drink specials.
As a nod to the original High Spot, they have brought back The Amber Room, which may be reserved for groups, parties, and special occasions.
The original High Spot, owned by the Robbins family, was a beloved local spot in the 1960s and 1970s. A new High Spot opened in 2011 and closed eight years later. And now a third reincarnation is blending some of the old beloved dishes with more modern spins on comfort food.
