Since opening in March 2017, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center in Church Creek, MD, has welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors from all 50 states and over 60 countries. Join in the celebration featuring interesting talks and family-friendly activities during their one-year anniversary weekend on March 10-11, 2018. The Visitor Center is Site #13 along the Harriet Tubman Byway, a scenic, self-guided driving tour of 36 historically sites on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery here and lived here for about 27 years.

There will be a series of performances, talks, and family-friendly activities happening at the Tubman Visitor Center all day Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11. Events include a performance by Harriet Tubman re-enactor Millicent Sparks, talks by Tubman biographer Kate Clifford Larsen, walk with historian Tony Cohen, and Junior Ranger programs for children. The Tubman Visitor Center is located at 4068 Golden Hill Rd., Church Creek, Md 21622

In addition, Site #17 along the Tubman Byway, the Bucktown Village Store (4303 Bucktown Road, Bucktown, MD 21613), will be open 9am-5pm both days in honor of the anniversary. Also, Site #11, New Revived Church (4350 Smithville Road,
Taylors Island, MD 21669), will be hosting a gospel group, The Victorian Singers on Saturday, March 10 at 4pm.
