This year marks the 12th Maryland Lighthouse Challenge with the Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society, and Cambridge’s own Choptank River Lighthouse is part of the event. The Challenge happens Sept. 21 and 22 (with an early bird day on Friday, Sept. 20, so everyone can come to the Eastern Shore). The idea is to inspire folks to visit 10 Maryland lighthouses and 1 lightship. You’ll earn a souvenir at each lighthouse you visit that weekend, and a special souvenir if you make it to all!

The 10 lighthouses and 1 lightship are:

  • Choptank River Lighthouse
  • Concord Point
  • Seven Foot Knoll
  • Lightship Chesapeake
  • Hooper Strait
  • Drum Point
  • Cove Point
  • Piney Point
  • Point Lookout
  • Fort Washington
  • Sandy Point Shoal

There are also two bonus lights (Millers Island Lighthouse and Blackstone Lighthouse Replica), as well as a bonus Chesapeake Bay Lighthouse Cruise.
