The Mid-Shore Board of Realtors will host a walking tour of Cambridge in conjunction with the Harriet Tubman Museum to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday. The local real estate group will host the event, which includes a 1.3-mile tour of the Pine Street area, on Thursday, June 16. The networking event and tour starts at 5:30pm at the Harriet Tubman Museum & Educational Center in Cambridge, Maryland and includes a museum tour and a walking tour.

Juneteenth celebrates when slaves learned of the Emancipation Proclamation. The holiday has been more in focus with the U.S. and Maryland dealing with historical and contemporary race and racial justice issues.

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in Dorchester County and became a leading abolitionist leader and key to the Underground Railroad helping escaped slaves. Historian Dion Banks and Kisha Petticolas will lead the tour, which will highlight Cambridge’s African American history and heritage.
