Harpist Kara Dahl Russell and her students will present a varied recital of music on Aug. 28, 2022 starting at 2pm at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center in Cambridge, MD. Free and open to the public.

Kara will play many pieces throughout the program, and her students range from beginner to advanced; for a family-friendly afternoon. This recital is the culmination of 3 progressive recitals held this summer around DelMarVa. The performance lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The selections – classical, romantic, modern and world music – are centered on the theme of water. Works by Constabile, Frouvelle, Gabus, Gustavson, Kostelanitz, Molnar, Morricone, Ogawa, Pratt, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rota, Scarlatti and some sing along.

Kara Dahl Russell is the recipient of a 2021 Individual Artist grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, and has 3 Associated Press Awards for Music Education series (radio). Kara is the Adjunct Professor of Harp at Salisbury University, and teaches harp, cello, and voice privately. She also has a growing library of music transcriptions for harp, cello and voice, which are sold internationally.

For 5 years, Kara has been the pre-concert lecturer for the Mid Atlantic Symphony, the only regional symphony that pays all of its performers. Kara has performed nationally and internationally and is a recognized Interdisciplinary Artist: actress, contralto, director, harpist, presenter and writer.
