The Cambridge Empowerment Center is holding the “Remembering King: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Step Show, Drumline and Talent Showcase!!” on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022 at the Empowerment Center in Cambridge, MD.

The event will be held 4-7pm, with the opening ceremony at 5 p.m.

“Stepping is a percussive dance performance in which the participant’s entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, singing, and handclaps. Developed by African American fraternities and sororities beginning in the mid-1900s, it is now practiced worldwide,” said Executive Director Andrew Shannon.

The event will feature a program that will include a “foot stomp’n good time.”

Everyone is invited to attend this dynamic and exciting event.

The “Remembering King: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Step Show, Drumline and Talent Showcase” is free and open to the public.

The opening ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. to kick-off this wholesome family celebration and culminating with the Talent Showcase, which will be educational, cultural, entertaining and inspirational. The event will provide the community and families the opportunity to enjoy entertainment including music, praise dance, drumline and step team performance showcasing various talents.
