SUMMARY:Class: Vessel Documentation: Recording the Lines
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:In this course led by CBMM's Vessel Conservation Manager Sam\nH
ilgartner at Richardson Maritime Museum in Cambridge\, Md.\, we will\nreco
rd the dimensions and shape of a small skipjack or bateau called\nPeregrin
e.\n\nOur measurements can then be transferred into a table of offsets to
be\nused to draw a set of lines for construction and archival purposes.\nR
ecording lines is one way of learning drafting where rather than\ncoming t
o understand a vessel design through abstract principles\, our\nlines are
developed directly from an actual vessel.\n\n You will leave knowing how t
 o define water lines\, buttock lines\,\nstation lines\, the base line\, fo
rward and aft perpendiculars\,\ndiagonals\, shearline\, profile view\, hal
f breadth view\, plan view\, and\nbasic principles of vessel documentation
.\n\nThis class is a partnership program between the Chesapeake Bay\nMarit
ime Museum and Richardson Maritime Museum and welcomes any level\nof skill
or familiarity in wooden boat construction and design.\n\nVessel Document
