NOTE: Because of the wind forecast, the boat parade originally scheduled for Dec. 11 has been POSTPONED until Sunday, Dec. 12. Same time, same place.
Deck your hulls for the fourth annual Christmas Lights on the Choptank Boat Parade starting around 5pm on Sunday, Dec. 12. Any size or type of boat welcome. Christmas lights and decorations encouraged.
Line-up starts at 4:50 p.m. on the Choptank side of the Lighthouse. The parade will begin about 5/5:15 p.m. They will pass Long Wharf, enter Cambridge Creek, pass through the drawbridge and circle back out Cambridge Creek past Yacht Maintenance and the Wharf at Governor’s Hall.
Best viewing is from Long Wharf Park (High and Water Streets) or anywhere along Cambridge Creek. Or for something different, head to the World War II crash boat USAAF P-520. This amazing wooden vessel, currently decked out in holiday lights, is too big to be in the parade, but the public is invited to watch the parade from their deck. Coffee will be on! (Access the boat from nearby Ruark Boatworks, Maryland and Hayward Streets in Cambridge.)
To register, contact Janel Parke at firstname.lastname@example.org or 410-310-8769 (cell) 410-228-0365 (home). Please provide your vessel’s name, Captain’s name, LOA, beam and minimum draft.
Please register no later than Thursday, December 9.
