DESCRIPTION:Watch iconic Chesapeake Bay skipjacks race on the Choptank Rive
 r\nduring the 30th annual Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race. Skipjacks are\n
 sail-powered oyster dredge boats that once plied Chesapeake Bay waters\nby
  the hundreds. Today fewer than 20 Skipjacks still sail\, and\nskipjack ra
 ces help keep tradition alive and the boats afloat. \n\nThe race begins w
 ith a parade of boats at 10am heading out of\nCambridge Creek. The race it
 self starts around 11am. starting and\nfinishing right by Long Wharf\, dep
 ending on weather conditions. The\nbest views from Long Wharf Park in Camb
 ridge\, MD. The race takes\nbetween 1 and 2 hours to complete. On shore ac
 tivities and food will\nbe available. \n\nThe Triple Crown of skipjack ra
 ces starts with the Deal Island Labor\nDay race on September 7th which is 
 held in out in Tangier Sound and\nbest viewed by boat. The second jewel in
  the crown is the Skipjack\nHeritage Days Race\, held off Sandy Point\, ju
 st north of Annapolis and\nthe Bay Bridge held on September 12-13 during t
 he Maryland Seafood\nFestival. \n\nOur Cambridge race is the third jewel 
 in the Triple Crown of skipjack\nraces and provides an excellent opportuni
 ty to see most surviving\ntraditional Skipjacks up close and under sail as
  they race on the\nChoptank River.  The Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race i
 s sponsored by\nthe Dorchester Skipjack Committee\, and the host skipjack 
 is the Nathan\nof Dorchester. \n
