 nKnown as “The American Songster\,” Flemons is a\nmulti-instrumentalis
 t\, songwriter\, and acclaimed performer of\ntraditional folk\, blues\, c
 ountry\, and bluegrass songs. A former member\nof the Carolina Chocolate D
 rops\, he won a Grammy Award in 2010\; his\nsolo albums Black Cowboys and 
 Traveling Wildfire were also nominated\nfor Grammys. Last year\, he was in
 ducted into the American Banjo Hall\nof Fame.\n\nAt Handsell\, Flemons wil
 l perform a carefully-selected repertoire that\nincludes tunes from the Tr
 aveling Wildfire disc. Drawing on his deep\nknowledge of music history\, t
 he hour-long show will weave together\nsongs and stories and highlight the
  contributions of Black artists to\nAmerican roots music. Flemons will be 
 available for a meet-and-greet\nafter the show.\n\nThe event begins at 1pm
