The Dorchester County Tourism Department operates out of the architectural design award-winning Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park in Cambridge on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. With its huge sail soaring more than 100 feet in the air, it is an Eastern Shore landmark located at the east end of the Route 50 Bridge across the Choptank River, at 2 Rose Hill Place in Cambridge.

From 8:30am to 5pm daily, friendly staff at the Dorchester Visitor Center awaits to help with your plans exploring the Heart of the Chesapeake. While you’re here, explore our two levels of exhibits about Dorchester and the area, enjoy great views of the Choptank River, and use the other amenities in the park complex including:

  • Playground
  • Restrooms
  • Relaxing garden with native plants
  • Mile-long boardwalk to stretch your legs (and your dog’s legs)
  • “Flying goose” monument fountain
  • Beach area

The Dorchester Visitor Center is also a designated Regional Information Center for the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network, under the National Park Service. CBGN maps are available free at the Visitors’ Center. Additional Gateways Network designated sites and trails in Dorchester County are identified throughout this website.
