Two Dorchester County communities were included in a list of “10 most beautiful, charming small towns in Maryland” by the website Only in Your State. Cambridge, the county seat and largest town in Dorchester, “has a vibrant arts scene and plenty of small businesses to shop around,” the website writes. Located along the Choptank River, Cambridge dates back to 1684 and has a rich maritime heritage. Its small downtown has been undergoing a renaissance with award-winning restaurants, art galleries, shops, museums, and more.

The second Dorchester town to make the list is Vienna, a 310-year-old quaint and historic community on the Nanticoke River. “Vienna has a picture perfect waterfront that is well complemented by its tiny town,” the website reports.¬†Vienna was first explored by Captain John Smith in 1608 and is one of the oldest colonial settlements in the state.
