The Dorchester Center for the Arts hosts a festive gathering on Dec. 1 as singer/pianist and occasional raconteur, Maris Wicker, brings her solo show “By the River,” to the Gallery Stage at 7pm. Her eclectic program includes works by Rodgers Hammerstein, Duke Ellington, Willie Nelson, Stephen Sondheim, and even J.S. Bach! Guest artists Victoria Tarbutton on classical guitar and Ashley Watkins on flute will be joining her on several selections.

Before Maris and her husband, Larry Skinner, moved to Cambridge, she was active in the DC area as a voice and piano teacher, music director for youth theater, and as an oratorio, art song interpreter, and cabaret performer. She has performed at the acclaimed Cabaret at Germano’s in Baltimore, with the DC Cabaret Network, and in cabaret performance workshops in DC, Chicago and New York City. A native of Richmond, Maris is very happy to call Cambridge home and to share music at the Dorchester Center for the Arts.

Tickets are $10 for DCA members, $12 non-members, with all proceeds to benefit programs at DCA.
