News giant CNN was filming in Dorchester County recently to share the story of John Young, the first person with dwarfism to take part — and complete — a full IRONMAN triathlon. CNN will be airing 90-second snippets of the TV special:
- Saturday, Oct. 22, 1-2pm, 3-4pm, and 5-6pm
- Sunday, Oct. 23, 5-6pm
Watch the full half-hour TV special about his inspiring achievements on November 19 (time to be announced). Young is a 50-year-old father and teacher from Salem, Massachusetts. In the past seven years, he has completed more than 35 triathlons, seven half-distance triathlons, and seven marathons (including the Boston and New York marathons).
“I’m hoping that over time, people will forget that I have dwarfism and simply see me as some 50 year old guy who decided almost 7 years ago to take control of his life,” Young said on his blog. “I simply want others with dwarfish, especially young children who have been told countless times, ‘You can’t do that because you’re too small,’ to realize there are no limits to what the human heart desires.”
